Chris is leaving the RD&E in April after 22 years, of which 18 years as R&D Manager. He was originally appointed by John Tooke in 1999 when the R&D office consisted of 2 staff plus the Director. As well as supporting the setup of the Peninsula Medical School in 2000 Chris has developed the R&D function which has grown to 150 staff and £14m of NIHR infrastructure income and over £1M of commercial income per year.
After completing a diploma in Innovation and Change Management in 2007, R&D also provide support for staff innovation. Chris is also a member of the newly formed national Health Research Leadership Organisation.
Chris says “this was a very hard decision, but I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family, travelling and supporting charity work”.
Chris is going to be sadly missed by all in the R&D team. We all wish you the best for the future.
